Habitat

Wildlife needs wild places, protected from development and negative human impact.

The Florida Wildlife Federation works to conserve habitat by:

  • Developing programs that increase the conserved habitat acreage for Florida’s wildlife.

  • Advocating for state and local policies for wildlife and habitat conservation.

  • Working to ensure that Federal and state programs benefitting wildlife and habitat are fully funded.

Visit our Conserving Habitat page to learn more about these programs.

Climate ChangeOne of the greatest threats to wildlife and habitat is the impact of climate change, and Florida is particularly at risk.

The Florida Wildlife Federation protects Florida from climate change through the following efforts:

  • Encouraging economic growth in Florida through Green Jobs.

  • Promoting implementation of Green Policies by Florida’s city and county governments.

  • Supporting a Federal cap & trade program to control carbon emissions.

Visit our Mitigating Climate Change page to read more about these programs.

Environmental Stewardship
Conserving nature begins with a love of nature.
The Florida Wildlife Federation will promote a spirit of environmental stewardship through the following initiatives:

  • Advancing environmental education through school programs.

  • Connecting children with the outdoors through extra-curricular outdoor recreation.
Promoting ethical and sustainable outdoor recreation, such as hunting and fishing.
